Transforming the way you live and work in the world

Principles and Practice of Management

A GISC Approach to Growing and Developing

as a Manager

Becoming a successful manager requires the development of new skills and abilities: delegation, team building, supervision, change management and talent management, just to name a few.

Becoming a successful manager also requires embracing new perspectives. For example: what does it mean to become accountable not just for your own performance, but for others? How do you manage the need to expand the range of your personal and professional "presence"? In this two-day program, participants will use a Gestalt approach to learn about and enhance their approach, presence and skills as a manager.

Through lectures, presentations, demonstrations, practice sessions, and the results of your own 5Dynamics assessment, you will have an opportunity to:

  • Develop your awareness of what being or becoming a
    manager means to you
  • Expand your understanding of the impact of personal and
    professional presence
  • Increase awareness of your management presence and style
    while identifying your developmental edge.
  • Explore a process of balancing "Strategic and Intimate©
behaviors for increasing your managerial impact
  • Understand the importance of, and be introduced to,
    managerial coaching skills
  • Focus on your attitude and capacity for delegation
  • Identify powerful tools for effecting change as a manager
  • Explore with peers, the daily challenges of being a manager
  • Identify and learn how to apply your unique strengths pattern
    to working with others

Anyone who is or expects to be a manager of people.

“Already a seasoned professional, I moved to a new area and faced many challenges adjusting to changes in my personal and professional life. The Skills for Influential Leadership class helped me reevaluate the value and skills I bring to the table. I left the three-day program with renewed interest in collaboration and problem solving as well as a renewed sense of confidence. I can’t wait to go back to another program.”

“This program was a big help for me. I learned a lot about myself and several simple tools that improved my ability to work with and lead others on my team as well as my clients. I learned how to recognize and set aside some of my own assumptions about people and the challenges we were facing. This has allowed me to see new opportunities and solutions for moving my organization forward.”
