The way in which we embody ourselves is integral to our experience of others, and to others’ experience of us – our impact. This highly experiential workshop will help practitioners exert a powerful, mindful influence on their client’s conscious and unconscious experience.
Our bodies are the irreducible ground of human awareness and human interaction, the foundation from which all our thoughts and feelings emerge. Attending to our body process gives us access to this extraordinarily sensitive “register” of subtle events in the field. Specifically, deepening our ability to attend to our own and our clients’ somatic experience does three things: 1) provides a wealth of pre-verbal information about what’s happening in the environment; 2) offers insight into a client’s reality that can be unavailable through direct questioning, and 3) dramatically expands a practitioner’s repertoire of high-impact interventions.
This workshop is an experiential immersion in body process. Through here-and-now exercises, individual coaching, and structured practice, participants will begin to understand and work with their embodied experience in new ways, and to track their own and their clients’ moment-to-moment somatic process with growing precision. Using these foundations, participants will begin to build fundamental body-oriented observation and intervention skills.
